Meet Elizabeth A. Stevenson, PMHNP, PLLC

I’m a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, fully licensed in Colorado, California, Florida, and Oregon. I provide psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for adults ages 18 and up.

I’m originally from Michigan, but Colorado has become my true home at heart. Since moving to Gunnison nearly seven years ago, I’ve developed a deep love for the outdoors and a profound appreciation for the beauty that exists both in nature and within ourselves. Backpacking, trail running, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing have not only been personal passions—they’ve taught me about resilience, presence, and the importance of connection.

During the pandemic, I was managing a small Emergency Department in Gunnison, facing immense stress and responsibility. In that period of uncertainty and isolation, nature became my lifeline. Day by day, I found grounding, clarity, and resilience outdoors, which deepened my respect for the mind and the profound ways it responds to stress, trauma, and care.

It was during this time that I fully realized how essential it is to treat mental health with intention, compassion, and education. Healing others requires not only empathy, but also a strong foundation of knowledge, self-awareness, and respect for the complexity of the human experience.
My Philosophy
I believe that strong relationships are the foundation of meaningful mental health care. Effective treatment isn’t just about medications—it’s about understanding your story, your goals, and your unique challenges. My approach is collaborative: we’ll work together to develop a treatment plan that feels right for you, and I’ll provide the guidance and support you need to feel empowered in your healing journey.

Life is full of highs and lows, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without both. My experiences—personal, professional, and in nature—have shaped the way I see care: as a journey we take together, one that honors your resilience, strengths, and humanity.
Why I Do This Work
I love seeing patients grow, regain clarity, and feel empowered in their lives. Helping people navigate mental health challenges is not just a profession—it’s a calling, informed by experience, compassion, and the belief that everyone deserves thoughtful, intentional care.
